Project 882-16
Akron, OH
The Great Lakes Construction Co. was selected by the City of Akron as the General Contractor to upgrade the condition of 7,400 LF of this critical portion of the Outfall Sewer (from the WRF to Lock 22, just north of Portage Path).
The design consisted of encapsulating the existing sewer with a self-supported enclosure comprised of augercast piles (ranging from 17’ to 57’ deep), a continuous foundation wall (5’ H), and a pneumatic mortar – gunite – cap (ranging from 6” to 18” thick). In addition, repairs to the portion of the existing sewer, which bridges the river, are included in the upgrade.
