This summer, our millwrights had the unique honor of unloading and placing the new stainless steel Superman statue atop an 18-foot pillar in downtown Cleveland. Precision, planning, and teamwork were key as our crew carefully set the larger-than-life figure in place, ensuring that every piece was safely secured and aligned. It’s a perfect example of the kind of behind-the-scenes expertise our millwrights bring to so many of our projects, from installing mechanical equipment to supporting complex structural assemblies.
Superman holds a special connection to Cleveland because the character was created here in the 1930s by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Our millwrights also erected three bronze statues honoring Jerry, Joe, and Joanne Siegel, who was the real-life inspiration for Lois Lane. Together, these statues celebrate Cleveland’s place in Superman’s story and reflect the same spirit of creativity and determination our crews bring to their work every day. While our teams are more often seen building bridges, treatment plants, and massive infrastructure, this was a meaningful reminder that Great Lakes helps shape not just the region’s future but its story.
