During a GCRTA-granted weekend shutdown in mid-February, Great Lakes’ signal subcontractor, Hatzel & Buehler, completed all signal testing/rerouting to switch the Project from Phase 1/1A to Phase 2. Within the Phase 2 configuration, Tracks 7, 8, & 10 are de-energized for the majority of 2025. Once in Phase 2, Great Lakes’ railroad subcontractor, Delta Railroad, removed the existing track/ballast from Tracks 8 & 10, where the majority of Phase 2 work will take place. Great Lakes began demolition of Portal 7, which will be followed by cast-in-place concrete replacement. Throughout Phase 2, Great Lakes’ subcontractor, JADCO Construction, will be completing concrete patching and joint seal work within Tracks 8 & 10.
