ABOUT THE JOB
The Heavy Civil Bridge Superintendent is responsible for managing the safety, quality, efficiency, and timely execution of bridge construction projects. This position requires on-site coordination for all phases of the project, including materials, equipment, subcontractors, and labor. In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined below, the Heavy Civil Bridge Superintendent must be organized, have strong judgment, communicate effectively, and possess technical expertise in concrete and steel bridge structures. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, refine, and update project schedules.
- Full understanding of contract drawings and specifications.
- Manage project costs and company assets effectively.
- Create and maintain detailed project documentation.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, material vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure all regulatory requirements are met throughout the project.
- Lead on-site teams and maintain strong working relationships.
- Enforce safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
- Develop daily crew lists and supervise field activities to meet project deadlines.
- Lead weekly foreman meetings.
- Proactively identify and solve potential issues with a two-week project forecast.
- Maintain compliance with all regulations.
- Foster a positive relationship with project owners and stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS
- A Civil Engineering or construction-related degree is preferred, with at least 10 years of experience supervising bridge construction projects, particularly heavy civil bridge projects in Cincinnati, OH.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage complex projects.
- 10+ years of experience in construction.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and drive project completion.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time, exempt position. While the standard workweek is typically 40 hours, the emphasis is placed on fulfilling the responsibilities of the Heavy Civil Bridge Superintendent.
