Project 79-18
Cleveland, OH
Owned by Cuyahoga County, the MetroHealth System (MHS) is a non-profit health care system that provides health care to many residents in the area. Over the years, MHS has become one of the largest hospital systems in the Cleveland area, housing the area’s only Level 1 Adult Trauma and Burn Center, one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the nation, and handling over one million patient visits per year.
MHS is undergoing a complete reconstruction, or “transformation,” of their main campus on the near west side of Cleveland. The overall transformation project will be in the neighborhood of $1 billion, which is the largest project Cuyahoga County has ever undertaken.
MetroHealth has chosen to implement a Design-Assist project delivery method for this transformation project. The Design-Assist delivery method is where the contractors are selected early in the design process so that they can provide design input and constructability reviews with the general contractor, Turner Construction Co. Work commenced in 2018, and The Great Lakes Construction Co. was awarded two trade packages.
