State Route 2 Bridge Widening

ODOT Project 26-21
SR-2 Bridge Widening Project
Wickliffe, OH

This multiyear project consisted of the widening and replacement of the slab bridge decks of the twin SR-2 over Worden Road structures and also included full depth pavement removal, new asphalt pavement, storm drainage, concrete median barrier, highway lighting, bridge mounted noise barrier, and substructure rehabilitation including composite fiber wrapping of existing concrete columns. The initial design included maintaining three lanes of traffic both eastbound and westbound during all construction phases while utilizing contraflow in phases 2 and 5. The project also required 3,800 lineal feet of trench drain that was installed during phase 1 and used for temporary drainage in subsequent phases.
