Sugar Creek WTP & Wellfield Improvements

Project 409-22
Sugar Creek WTP & Wellfield Improvements
Canton, OH

At the Wellfields, a redundant 2,000 LF 30” ductile iron waterline was installed, consisting of a jack and bore under SR-21, with interconnecting pipe at each of the (10) Wells.  These Wells were upgraded to convert a buried well discharge to an above ground well discharge housed within a pre-engineered metal building that contains new electrical and PLC equipment.  Additionally, the existing overhead 5kV electrical service to the Wells was upgraded to an underground 5kV electrical service consisting of over 7,000 LF of ductbank.

At the Water Treatment Plant, the original era 1969 building, process systems, HVAC and electrical were all upgraded during phased outages all while maintaining normal plant operations.  Upgrades included filter media replacement and installation of a new air scour system, 2 chlorinator replacements, refurbishment of (4) 450HP, High Service pumps and motors, installation of (4) clearwell fiberglass baffle walls, replacement of 480V and 5kV electrical equipment, replacement of (10) PLCs, and replacement of (8) HVAC roof top units and industrial dehumidifier with associated ductwork.  In addition, two aeration systems were replaced with phased construction.
