The Great Lakes Construction Co. was under contract working as part of the MWH Contractors, Construction Manager at Risk, Team. The Project increased Avon Lake’s plant capacity from 50MGD to 62MGD by constructing a new 3M Gallon Water Reservoir (102’x230’x20’deep) / Clearwell and a new 2-story masonry pump station building. Work included placing 7,000 CY of concrete with over 29,000 SF of base slabs, 107,000 SF of walls and 23,000 SF of elevated roof deck constructed in a checkerboard fashion to mitigate concrete shrinkage. There was over 1,700 LF of underground piping ranging from 8” diameter ductile iron pipe (DIP) to 60” diameter DIP. The Project scope included all building trades.
